Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between traditional therapy and life coaching?

Traditional therapy often explores dynamics stemming from your family of origin or past emotional traumas to explain why you behave the way you do. Much of the work is understanding the impact of your past on your current overall functioning, coming to terms with what has transpired in your life, and helping you navigate life and relationships with a healthier approach.

Life Coaching identifies what is happening now and what you want for the future. Coaching recognizes current issues and is solution-focused. Together with your Life Coach you will develop strategies that are actionable and goal oriented.

As a Therapeutic Coach, my method is a hybrid of psychotherapy and life coaching, centered on the use of metaphors. Metaphors provide a new insight on life and offer shortcuts to change. This approach is goal oriented, applicable to most situations, and can be implemented immediately.

What is your target age group?

I primarily work with adults aged 22 and older. In addition, I have an expertise in counseling parents of toddlers through teens.

How long is a session?

Each session is one hour.

Are sessions covered by insurance?

No. With this therapeutic coaching model you can expect fewer sessions compared to traditional therapy, therefore your out of pocket expenses will often be less in the long run, even with factoring insurance coverage.

Do you see clients in person?

I offer a hybrid model of zoom and in-person sessions depending on the unique circumstances of each client. This model allows me to work with people living across the United States and abroad. Clients who live locally can a choose their preferred modality.
